From the beginnning, this Rosé of Pinot Noir was planned and treated as a separate wine. We did not simply “bleed off” juice in the oft - used saignée method, as an afterthought to making a red wine. Instead, we employed a short, limited maceration after the fruit was destemmed. The Pinot Noir juice then soaked on its skins for 14 hours, picking up the beautiful pink hue. It was fermented in a cold stainless steel tank to lock in the color and fruit expression. It fermented completely to dryness and then was aged for six months in “neutral” French oak cooperage. 

This Blair Rosé of Pinot Noir is a serious “pink” wine. Our goal was an Old World style that would be bright and refreshing. But also one that would be a versatile companion to a wide variety of  foods. The nose and palate is full of ripe strawberry, cherry and watermelon. It finishes crisp and dry. Serve well chilled with a Salade Nicoise or an herbed  salmon steak fresh off the grill.  

Dried herbs, baked earth and a light cranberry backdrop show on the slightly vinous nose of this bottling. Similar flavors arise on the sip, which also offers dried strawberry, oregano and a rusty minerality. MATT KETTMANN

The Matriarch is an unapologetcally "big" wine. By using a mixture of standard size French oak barrels (60 gallons) and French oak Puncheons (132 gallons) we are able tokeep our trademark cool climate acidity and fruit characters alive which keeps the wine in balance and allows it to display a streak of minerality.  Aromas of hazelnut, carmel, citrus oil and brioche.  On the palate a display of buttery flavors of pineapple and toasted peach, apple, nectarine and guava.  Ripe and round with just the right amount of acidity on the finish to keep this massive Chardonnay in balance. A perfect match for cream-sauced pastas, roast turkey, Cioppino or fresh shell fish.

“Reserve” is a title that is thrown around pretty liberally in the wine industry, often without a whole lot of meaning. Most terms on a wine label have solid statistics or legal requirements behind them. For the wine to be called Pinot Noir, it needs to be at least 75% of that varietal. To list an official AVA like Arroyo Seco, at least 85% of the grapes have to come from within that appellation’s boundaries. But “Reserve” in the U.S. has no such definition, no required components. For the most part, it is simply a marketing moniker.

Until now. “The Reserve” is Blair Estate’s ultimate Pinot Noir. Everything about this wine is exceptional. “The Reserve” designation here has real meaning. Simply put, it is hand selected from the very best vines each vintage – held in “reserve” for special treatment and special occasions.

Here’s an excerpt from my vineyard log book from the 2015 vintage: “October 10. Walking Delfina’s, I left the refractometer behind and hand sampled for the very best grapes. Trusting my palate, I selected just enough fruit for five barrels worth of truly exceptional Pinot Noir. Clone 115 came from rows 15 thru 18. Rows 54 thru 57 gave us Clone 777. In 2014 we added Clone 667 from rows 44 & 45. And Pommard 4 came off the north blocks rows 31 & 32 and the south block’s rows 71 through 74.” These were the grapes destined for this second ever “The Reserve” release.

Only 75 cases were produced of Blair Estate 2015 “The Reserve.” The 2015 "The Reserve has recieved 92 Points from Wine Enthusiast Magazine and a Double Gold from the 2018 New Orleans Interanational Wine Competition. This is the Blair family’s ultimate statement in Pinot Noir from the Arroyo Seco – clearly putting the vineyard and the appellation on the map with California’s very best PN locales.

This very limited release of only 150 cases is trademark cool-climate Chardonnay.  It displays lemon rind, citrus and wet slate notes on the nose. On the palate: white peach, apple skin, nectarine while finishing clean and bright with a lime tart, white peppere note. The wine's structure and refreshing acidity makes it an incredibly versatile match for a variety of foods like pan roasted white fish or raw shell fish or sushi.

Dried lemon, white-peach and orange-rind aromas come across as a bit botanical on the nose of this bottling. There is zesty freshness to the sip, where rounded flavors of melon, peach and almond are cut by seared lemon. MATT KETTMANN

From the heart and sole of our Estate Vineyard comes this complex and layered Pinot Noir.  Utilizing clones Pommard 4, 115, 667, 777, 828, 943 and DRC we have let Delfina's Vineyard once again speak her special language.  With no interference in the winery the result is a more Burgundian than California style of Pinot Noir.  

Baked red-cherry, clove, star anise and cinnamon aromas make for a ripe expression on this bottling, which is starting to show some of its age. It's lively on the palate, where snappy raspberry and ripe strawberry meet with clove and more baking-spice flavors. MATT KETTMANN

Using free run and a light press, 50% of the juice was fermented and aged in neutral French oak barrels; the other 50% in small stainless steel barrels to preserve the lush fruit character.  Battonage, lees stirring, was done once a week. The result is a limited release of only 106 cases that is everything a Pinot Gris should be:

Dried lemon peels, orange surf wax and a hint of nuts show on the nose of this bottling. It's a complex wine on the palate, moving from lemon-like wax flavors to blanched almonds, all with a viscous length to the finish. MATT KETTMANN

Morgantini is a well-regarded estate that has its own unique micro-climate. Only a mile seperates our vineyards yet it is always 10 degrees warmer with very little wind. We source this Clone 115 from the north 2 rows that are located in the 2 acres of east/west rows that grow in chalk rock soils.  In the glass this Pinot displays a beautiful color of light rose petal and teaberry.

Roasted cherry, crushed clove and earthy mushroom aromas show on the nose of this single-vineyard expression. There's a sandalwood spice to the sip, where ripe cherries and roasted strawberry flavors are spiced by mace and cinnamon. MATT KETTMANN
